Vlado Bosanac, Founder and Head of Strategy, AHI
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has long been recognized for its rapid growth and forward-thinking approach to innovation. Driven by strategic government policies and a proactive approach to adopting new technologies, it reached 32nd in the Global Innovation Index in 2024.
This dynamic nation has consistently demonstrated its ability to adopt and implement cutting-edge technologies across various sectors, evident through substantial investments in infrastructure and R&D for example, with 5G connectivity, electric vehicles, and smart city initiatives.
Its commitment to innovation continues, through fostering a knowledge-based economy, with significant emphasis on the health and technology sectors. Current initiatives include the Future-Ready Healthcare system, which is part of the “We Are the UAE 2031” vision and includes an epidemiological surveillance and infectious disease prediction system, and the Emirates Health Services Innovation Strategy, which aims to leverage digital health to drive innovation. Substantial resources have been allocated to developing state-of-the-art medical facilities, attracting top-tier healthcare professionals, and supporting groundbreaking research. From telemedicine and AI-driven diagnostics to robotic surgeries and personalized medicine, the UAE is at the forefront of integrating technology into healthcare.
All of this is why AHI is excited to be involved. Over the past three years, we have been on the ground, developing and enhancing our relationships with key players in driving this important ambition. We are working with Pharmak on a vision for healthcare excellence, focusing on streamlining patient care through digital innovation, improving risk assessment and medication management, enhancing patient outcomes and quality of life, and mitigating health risks. Additionally, we are engaged with His Excellency Dr. Obaid Alketbi, former UAE Diplomat and Ambassador, a Military General, Chief of Logistics in the UAE Armed Forces, current Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of Bin Farhood Group. Through this project, we are engaging with government and private organisations throughout the Middle East and North Africa region to deliver on our shared vision for people to live longer, healthier, and stronger lives.
We aim to work hand in hand with key stakeholders in the region to help drive innovation in health care for the UAE’s diverse population. There are multiple opportunities to continue to build a robust healthcare system that is both efficient and advanced. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with companies looking to establish themselves in the region, helping to navigate the relationship-based business environment there or support distribution through our established network.
Looking ahead, we intend to continue to invest in the region and grow our presence there. We believe that the cornerstone of future success lies in identifying at-risk populations before a health event occurs rather than reacting to a crisis. This proactive strategy enables targeted interventions, significantly improving patient outcomes and quality of life. AHI's innovative approach bridges the gap between healthcare providers, patients and technology.
